Kicker Solenoid

Kicker Solenoid 20-21 The kicker solenoid (in black) is attached to its 3D printed support (in grey) with tie wraps and the support is connected to the bottom plate with four screws.

The kicker solenoid has a coil made out of a copper wire, the coil is in the shape of a helix in order to generate a controlled magnetic field. Inside this coil, a cylindrical bar of steel called plunger can move, and this plunger is connected to a spring to be able to move back to its original position. This solenoid works by having a current flowing through the coil which creates a nearly uniform magnetic field inside of it and this magnetic field makes the plunger move. When a current flows through the kicker solenoid, the plunger will move and the white part attached at the front of the plunger will kick the ball.
