Assemble the 21-22 Front Assembly

Here is a small guide on how to assemble the front assembly that was made during the 2021-22 RTT year:

  1. First, make sure you have printed all the parts and have all the necessary screws, nuts, etc. as listed in the BOM list. And make sure you have all the necessary tools to be able to screw everything together.
  2. Put the M2 metal inserts in the bridge part, on the side were the cutout for the motor cables is. See picture below. metal_inserts_fa.jpg To put them in, you can use the soldering iron to heat up the metal insert and push it in the 3D printed part. Make sure to file the part once the metal inserts are in, otherwise the part won't be flat and the moving left part will not connect properly to the bridge part.
  3. For the static parts, you can assemble them in the order you want.
  4. For the moving parts, there are certain parts that need to be put together first!
    1. First assemble the dribbler motor and the dribbler on the right moving part, BUT do NOT put the gears yet!!!. Screw the motor in such a way that its cables can easily go through the cutout. fa_assembly_part1.jpg
    2. Then, put the PCB on the bridging part and screw that part on the motor's side. fa_assembly_part2.jpg
    3. Now you can put the gears on the motor's and dribbler's shafts (small one on the motor, big one on the dribbler).
    4. Finally, screw the left moving part on the other side. fa_assembly_part3.jpg
  5. Finally, connect the moving parts and the static parts together by putting the damping flexures in. fa_assembly_part4.jpg
