Chipper mechanism components:
The chipper mechanism allows the robot to chip the ball over other robots.
How it works?
Chipper transmission is connected to the solenoid core and moves with it. When the solenoid is fired, transmission pushes the chipper plate striking the ball upwards. The chipper plate also acts as a third point of contact with the ball, along with the dribbler ball and the floor.
How is it made?
Chipper transmission is made from laser-cut steel parts that are welded together. It is screwed to the solenoid core via a machinist screw and a hexagonal standoff. The chipper plate is made out of laser-cut steel parts bent into shape. It is mounted to the front assembly with two metal pins that are inserted into bearings. Pins might need to be glued to the chipper plate. Bearings are friction fit into the side panels of the front assembly.
